The NAFTA agreements have resulted in increased trade between the U.S. and our northern neighbors in Canada. Canadian regulations require transborder shippers, carriers and handlers to meet strict requirements. Some of these requirements also apply to sea, air or in-transit shipments. 

This one-day program will help you comply with shipping dangerous goods to and from Canada and the United States. Reciprocity agreements between Canada and the United States permit North American trade however there are some restrictions to the agreement through 49 CFR.

Although, emphasis is placed on automotive hazardous materials classification, hazard communication, documentation, storage and transportation, the programs & methods discussed in this interactive presentation can be used by any company that manufactures or ships dangerous goods.

     49 CFR Hazardous Material Transportation Recurrent - Pamela Jennings, DGI Training Center

This one day seminar will focus on the most recent changes to the Hazardous Materials Regulations and how the changes will effect the current regulations.  The seasoned instructor will also highlight areas that might require retraining of your company personnel Included within the session are;

         Security Awareness

         Classification/Identification/Marking and Labeling/Shipping papers

         Mixtures and Solutions

         Multiple Hazard Materials Classification

         Generic Shipping names and when to use them

         Separation and segregation

This class will have a final exam, and will satisfy the US DOT requirements for recurrent training.

    Hazardous Wastes are regulated in transportation by both the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation.

Learn the intricacies of complying with both agencies as you incorporate regulatory changes that impact your companies waste management program.

 

     Safety Compliance for Motor Carriers - Mark Weaver, J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc.

This class will focus on the critical vehicle safety issues facing motor carriers transporting hazardous materials.  The class will focus on both driver and management issues surrounding compliance to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).  Highlights among the topics discussed during this class will be:

         The new hours of service regulations and how to comply with them

         Load securement rules and their application to the transportation of hazardous materials shipments

         Entry level driver training

         Safety Performance History & Background Checks

         CDL vs personal vehicle violations & the impact

         Highway bill summary

This is a 4 hour class that will greatly enhance your knowledge and information base on what you need to understand when operating a fleet or what your responsibilities are when contracting with a carrier to move your hazardous materials. The class will cover the practical application of the aforementioned topics, helping management develop the policies, procedures and practices to reduce a company’s exposure to regulatory enforcement, unsafe practices and risks
