John V. Currie, Administrator and Chief Technical Officer

John V. Currie, is the president and co-founder of Currie Associates, Inc. He is internationally recognized as a leader in the hazardous materials compliance industry. His extensive background includes duties as the former supervisor and trainer for the New York State Police Hazardous Materials Enforcement Unit, Director of Safety and Hazardous Materials Specialist for the American Trucking Associations, Corporate Manager of Hazardous Materials Transportation for Digital Equipment Corporation. Throughout his career in the transportation safety field, he has worked with legislative and regulatory staffs at both the state and federal level to draft, introduce, support, and implement reasonable and prudent controls within the transportation industry. He has developed and presented written and oral testimony on hazardous materials and transportation safety in both Houses of the U.S. Congress. He has also been instrumental in developing and participating in inter-industry safety initiatives and award programs. In addition to hundreds of industry seminars, Mr. Currie has taught the principles of hazardous materials transportation management in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs at US universities.

Mr. Currie has authored several technical publications on the safe transportation of hazardous materials including application of the United Nations standards. Comprehensive training packages designed and produced by Mr. Currie are currently being used by the UN Conference on Trade and Development, US Coast Guard, Federal Railway Administration, Canadian Coast Guard, USDOT Transportation Safety Institute, and scores of international shippers and carriers of dangerous goods by all modes.

Mr. Currie also serves as the administrator for the International Vessel Operators Hazardous Materials Association, Inc. (VOHMA). He leads the delegation for the International Vessel Operators Hazardous Materials Association on the Dangerous Goods Subcommittee of the International Maritime Organization, London UK, and at the United Nations Committee of Experts on the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
