Help Wanted

Title: Dangerous Goods Specialist - Part Time (16 – 32 hours weekly), Linden, NJ

Responsibilities:

  • Assure that all Dangerous Goods are packed and documented in accordance with the most current CFR 49 and IMDG regulations (knowledge of IATA DGR helpful)
  • Ensure the Accurate & Timely Fulfillment of customer’s shipments
  • Maintain knowledge of all currently applicable rules and regulations concerning the packing, documentation and transportation of Dangerous Goods.
  • Fulfill contract requirements for ATP Customers
  • Support ATP’s image of superior professionalism and excellent quality

Functions:

  • Process outgoing shipments, including proper packaging, marking, labeling, and issuing all necessary documentation 
  • Respond quickly and accurately to customer inquiries regarding Dangerous Goods regulations 
  • Acquire necessary documentation to ensure that all materials processed by ATP  is classified properly (i.e Material Safety Data Sheets, Competent Authority paperwork, etc.)
  • Apply accurate rates and maintain detailed records of all jobs performed in order to insure proper billing
  • Answer & resolve phone calls as needed
  • Occasional travel to Northern Virginia/Washington DC area may be required

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, equivalent, or higher

  • Fluency in English (Spanish also a plus)

  • Clear, Professional & Pleasant phone manner

  • Valid Drivers license and clean driving record

  • Ability to pass 10 year background check & drug test

  • Experience in Packing & Crating is desirable

  • Customer Service skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word

  • Experienced in Internet Research

  • Experienced in Dangerous Goods Handling

  • Ability to pass Dangerous Goods proficiency test and certification training

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Willingness to work in a warehouse environment

  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and overtime as necessary

  • Ensure the Accurate & Timely Fulfillment of Dangerous Goods customer jobs
  • Maintain knowledge of all currently applicable rules and regulations concerning the packing, documentation and transportation of Dangerous Goods.
  • Minimize costs and maximize profits through efficient use of labor and materials 
  • Fulfill contract requirements for ATP Customers
  • Support ATP’s image of superior professionalism and excellent quality

Functions: 

  • Process incoming and outgoing shipments, including proper packaging, marking, labeling, and issuing all necessary documentation 
  • Respond quickly and accurately to customer inquiries regarding Dangerous Goods regulations or ATP services and rates
  • Acquire necessary documentation to ensure that all materials processed by ATP  is classified properly (i.e Material Safety Data Sheets, Competent Authority paperwork, etc.)
  • Apply accurate rates and maintain detailed records of all jobs quoted or performed in order to insure proper billing
  • Offer suggestions on methods of reducing costs or increasing profits while maintaining excellent quality and professionalism for ATP customers
  • Perform warehouse functions as needed (i.e. receiving freight, wood crating, or pick up / delivery functions)
  • Answer & resolve phone calls as needed

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, equivalent, or higher

  • Fluency in English 

  • Clear, Professional & Pleasant phone manner
