Robert Heinrich, Annual Forum Committee Chair and Transportation Specialist, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, announced that Len Satkowski, J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc. will be presenting a training course at the COSTHA Annual Forum Sunday, April 22, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas, Scottsdale, AZ. The training is entitled “Hazmat Security Assessments and Plans”.

This seminar will focus on hazardous materials security assessments and effective security corrective actions and will cover: 

·         Regulations concerning self-assessment

·         Inclusion of self assessments as part of a comprehensive security plan

·         DOT expectations of completed security plans and security risk assessments

Participants will learn about best risk management practices implemented by companies that manufacture and/or ship hazardous materials. 

Mr. Satkowski, Sr. Safety Consultant, has been with J.J. Keller since August 2000, after working for them as a consultant since 1998. Len offers a wealth of experience in transportation safety and other transportation related concerns.

Len spent 14 years as a Corporate Transportation and Compliance Manager in the chemical industry where he had the opportunity to be part of industry committees on motor carrier, rail and barge safety, and played a role in affecting hazardous materials transportation regulations. In addition to experience as a shipper, Len has been able to operate a small bulk carrier as well as serve in a management capacity for a third party logistics firm. He also served as an adjunct professor at DePaul University as well as several community colleges in the Chicago area. 

At J.J. Keller, Len serves as a consulting and training resource for hazardous materials transportation for shippers by all modes, including function-specific training related to security and Federal Aviation Administration issues. He is qualified as a trainer for OSHA 10 and 30 hour programs and as a workplace safety auditor/advisor. Len also handles transportation regulatory, legal and logistics-related issues including filings for DOT hazardous materials Special Permits. In addition, Len has expertise on ISO14001 and C-TPAT implementation and MSDS development. 

Len earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. He is a member of the National Private Truck Council and the Dangerous Goods Advisory Council. In addition, Len is a Certified Transportation Professional.
