Robert Heinrich, Annual Forum Committee Chair and Transportation Specialist, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, announced that Steve Hunt, President, ShipMate, Inc., and internationally recognized expert on the safe and compliant transportation of dangerous goods, will be presenting an important workshop at the COSTHA Annual Forum Sunday, April 22, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas, Scottsdale, AZ. The workshop is entitled “Automotive Issues and Best Practices for HazMat Transportation” and provides a comprehensive overview of the issues that face automotive companies, their suppliers and transportation partners, focusing on recent regulatory changes, parts distribution and supply chain management, warranty programs, auto parts recycling, and dealer training programs as well as hazardous waste transportation requirements. Participants will learn about best management practices implemented by many of the world’s leading auto makers and have an opportunity to share ideas for optimizing their own hazardous materials compliance and training programs. Although, emphasis is placed on automotive hazardous materials classification, hazard communication, documentation, storage and transportation, the programs & methods discussed in this interactive presentation can be used by any company that manufactures or ships dangerous goods.

Mr. Hunt has provided hazardous materials transportation training to more than thirty thousand people in the last thirteen years and has trained hundreds of companies to comply with the Hazardous Materials Regulations. He is also an IICL Certified Container and Chassis Inspector. Steve Hunt has provided consultation to large and small businesses, carriers, shippers, freight forwarders and non-vessel operating common carriers, agents, brokers, institutions and associations, chemical manufacturers and distributors, Federal, state and local agencies including the U.S. Department of Transportation, Department of Commerce, U.S. Customs Service, California Highway Patrol, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Mr. Hunt has been a featured speaker at previous meetings of the Council on the Safe Transportation of Hazardous Articles, Dangerous Goods Advisory Council, National Association of Chemical Distributors, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Los Angeles Customs and Freight Brokers Association, South Carolina International Trade Conference, and scores of other associations and institutions.
