Package Specifications, Closure Instructions, and You (Or Your Customer)
Changes to the 49 CFR have made it clear that packaging manufacturers need to provide more detailed package specifications and closing instructions to their customers. End users of that packaging need to be able to access those documents and have the proper tools to close the package properly. Doing so benefits the manufacturer and the packaging end user. Manufacturers providing this detailed information can work with their customers to ensure they have packaging that is efficient and straight-forward to close. Packaging customers can then be more assured they are closing the package properly. This helps ensure their customers in turn receive their product intact, avoiding financial loss as well as costly fines or shipping delays if the package is stopped by a DOT inspector.

This course will detail the 49 CFR requirements for both packaging manufacturers and shippers regarding package specifications and closure instructions, including recent changes to those provisions. Participants will discuss the benefits of building relationships between the packaging manufacturer, the testing laboratories, and the end-user.
