First-Time Meeting Attendees Orientation

North American Automotive Hazmat Action Committee (NAAHAC) Meeting

NAAHAC is an issue-driven, action-oriented voluntary working group of hazardous materials/dangerous goods transportation professionals within their respective North American and key supplier organizations. NAAHAC’s purpose is to consider and respond to the vital hazardous materials and dangerous goods issues of its membership. By leveraging its combined vehicle component and regulatory expertise, NAAHAC members examine pending and current hazmat regulations to develop concise, informed responses for submission to the appropriate authorities. NAAHAC strives to workwith the regulators for the purpose of providing safe and realistic solutions to hazmat transportation issues impacting global commerce. COSTHA NAAHAC members meet to discuss current issues with key regulators and industry experts.

Air Carrier Roundtable (ACRT)

This group actively represents air carriers from all segments of the industry. The ACRT and COSTHA staff continue to successfully petition the US DOT for regulatory clarification, extensions and alignment of regulations with the UN Model Regulations and the International Civil Aviation Organization. COSTHA Air Carrier Roundtable members meet during the annual forum to discuss current issues with key regulators and industry experts.

IVODGA Membership Meeting and Speakers Presentations

The International Vessel Operators Dangerous Goods Association (IVODGA) is an international organization comprised of representatives of the ocean common carriers of the world, operating under the flags of several nations. Canada Working Group

Members with operations in Canada or who ship to, within and from Canada find this informal working group key to forming relationships with the management team at Transport Canada and to tracking the latest changes in the Canadian and transborder requirements. The group schedules meetings with Transport Canada, and COSTHA staff serves on Transport Canada’s Transportation of Dangerous Goods General Policy Advisory Council, and participates on the US - Canada Regulatory Cooperation Council (RCC) and the Multi-Association Committee on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (MACTDG). COSTHA works with the Transport Dangerous Goods (TDG) Directorate and also Health Canada’s Workplace Hazardous Materials Bureau. COSTHA actively works with member companies and responds to requests for consultation from Transport Canada. This working group will meet to discuss current issues with key regulators and industry experts.

Focus Group Working Lunch Topics

Participate in an interactive issue-driven lunch group discussion included free with your forum registration. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the issues impacting the industry and what it means to your company’s business. Since this is a very dynamic time, topics for the working lunch focus groups are issue-driven and will be finalized and announced prior to the forum. For this session on the registration form, please let us know if you have a suggested topic, would prefer to be notified of the topics as they are finalized, or select the opportunity to network with your peers in the general lunch session. If you are unsure, you can choose at a later date.

How to Prepare for a Regulatory Inspection Workshop

E-Commerce Working Group

The working group will identify areas of risk, geographies where more information needs to be provided, or regulations requiring updating, and identify best practices for reverse logistics to ensure the safe and efficient delivery and return of goods to and from consumers. This working group meeting provides the opportunity to meet and discuss current issues with key regulators and industry experts.

US Postal Service Roundtable

The USPS Roundtable is an opportunity to meet in an informal setting to discuss postal issues, requirements, questions and use of the USPS for consumer distribution. This roundtable will provide an opportunity to meet one-on-one or in a small group environment [with the USPS] to discuss postal service related issues. Members who use the postal service for consumer deliveries, e-commerce distribution or who wish to learn more about the USPS or the use of Publication 52, Hazardous, Restricted, and Perishable Mail should plan on attending this roundtable.

Life Sciences Roundtable

The Life Sciences industry includes many fields such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, biomedical technologies, cosmetics, food processing, and biomedical devices. The Life Sciences industry faces many issues during global transportation beyond hazardous materials/dangerous goods. These include packaging, classification, cold chain logistics, chain of custody, and trade compliance. Other types of regulations may also apply to global shipments, including chemical control and customs regulations such as Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), and customs. This interactive roundtable will explore these common issues and the mechanisms that companies employ to cover this maze of regulations facing global transportation.
